Choice welcomes Preferred Hotels, and 250 free points

If you are a regular reader you should know that I really like Choice Privileges as a non-mainstream loyalty program, and wrote a guide on it. What I forgot to mention was their partnership with Preferred Hotels and Resorts, which allows you to spend points on properties beyond the Choice group.

Even better, you can now redeem Preferred hotel stays online. It is so much easier than having to call Choice’s customer service in the past.

For reference, here is how much one night costs at some Preferred hotels:

  • Shanghai – The Longemont Hotel 25,000
  • Taipei – Palais de Chine 35,000
  • Tokyo – The Prince Park Tower 35,000
  • Singapore – Royal Plaza on Scotts 35,000
  • Singapore – The Fullerton Bay Hotel 55,000
  • Kuala Lumpur – EQ 25,000
  • London – Royal Lancaster London 25,000
  • Belfast – The Fitzwilliam Hotel 25,000
  • Barcelona – Hotel Espana 25,000
  • Naples – Grand Hotel Santa Lucia 35,000
  • St Moritz – art boutique Hotel Monopol 55,000

I highlighted the properties which represent the highest value. With the addition of Preferred hotels, there are more places to spend Choice points besides Japan and Northern Europe.

If you have a Choice account, you should also subscribe to their newsletter here for 250 bonus points, which for me arrived instantly. Although 250 points won’t go far, it resets the 18-month clock for expiry which is helpful.
