Alaska’s refreshed Atmos Rewards has gone through quite some turbulence in terms of award pricing, since the launch of this joint reward program between Alaska Air and Hawaiian Airlines. If you are looking for a trip in Asia, here’s a new sweet spot for you.

Atmos has dynamic pricing now. For under 1,500 miles (Tokyo – Taipei) the price starts at 7.5k / 15k but only if you fly with Starlux. Adding a connection to Hong Kong and Macau exceeds the 1,500-mile band, but somehow the price stays the same as long as you stick with Starlux.
As you can see, flying direct with Japan Airlines is much more expensive. Remember that free stop-over is allowed.
The deal is very good, but availability may be hard to find – I only saw some dates in April next year. I have recently flown China Airlines and EVA Air, and am hoping to try Starlux soon.
