Another excellent airfare spotted by @YHBU that’s well worth sharing. This time it’s Etihad Airways with discounted Business and First Class fares from Tunis to several destinations in Asia:
- Origin: Tuni
- sDestinations: Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo, Phuket and more
- Business Class from around £400 one-way
- First Class from around £1,100 one-way
It’s certainly a niche starting point, but it’s a rare opportunity to experience Etihad’s renowned First Class without paying the usual eye-watering fares.
Do pay attention to the aircraft type before booking.
The Tunis–Abu Dhabi route, along with some medium-haul sectors such as Abu Dhabi–Bangkok, is now operated by Etihad’s brand-new Airbus A321LR, featuring a 1-1 First Class cabin.
I recently flew another of the industry’s flagship narrow-body aircraft, the A321XLR, and came away thoroughly impressed. Etihad’s A321LR takes things a step further by offering a genuine First Class product, with more space, upgraded hardware and a much higher level of service. Early reviews online have been overwhelmingly positive.
The cheapest First Class fares currently seem to be available on the Bangkok route from October onwards.
For Singapore, the lowest fares are mostly found between August and October. Etihad’s website currently shows most flights operated by the Boeing 787. I’ve flown this product before—it’s respectable, but the cabin is beginning to show its age.
Interestingly, recent operating schedules suggest that Monday, Thursday and Friday services are often “upgraded” to the A380. If you can catch one of those flights, you’ll get to experience Etihad’s iconic First Apartment, which offers a significant leap in both privacy and personal space compared with the 787.
The Tokyo route is even more attractive from an aviation enthusiast’s perspective, as it’s frequently operated by the A380, although fares are noticeably higher.
If your budget stretches a little further, there’s an even more extravagant option: after purchasing your ticket, you can try your luck by requesting a paid upgrade to The Residence, Etihad’s flagship three-room suite in the sky.
