My review of The Lounge & Avianca Lounge, Medellin

This is a quick review of the two domestic lounges I visited at Medellin airport. As I have an onward connection at Bogota I was being careful and arrived fairly early at the airport, so I’ve got enough time to hang out.

The Lounge is one of the options at MDE. The map here looks very familiar, as I visited another The Lounge at Cancun last year.

Compared to that of CUN, this lounge is larger, better appointed and has more facilities, including a meeting room and a relaxation room.

Food serving here is buffet and a-la-carte combined. But don’t hold your breath – there are only two items to order from, both pasta. I was hoping for the same cocktail menu like at CUN, but that was too optimistic.

As it is the only lounge that accepts Priority Pass, it might get busy at times. Another option is the Avianca VIP lounge, which is surprisingly operated by Plaza Premium, so you can enter with Amex Platinum or Dragonpass.

It is obviously much classier than The Lounge, and a lot quieter. Avianca seems to have had a good budget when it came to building their own flagship lounges!

Some cool retro Avianca posters on the wall.

There’s a big dining area and food options are very limited, just the spread on the table served by the staff. The consomme is good.
