US airlines have been running mileage sales fairly frequently these days, but the pricing usually isn’t anything to get too excited about. Alaska Airlines is coming out swinging and this is my offer: until 19 October, buying at least 35,000 miles gets me a 120% bonus, bringing the effective cost down to 1.59c / 1.2p per mile.
Note that the exact bonus is targeted, and some people are only seeing a 100% or 110% bonus.
Alaska miles don’t have many earning options, but they can be very valuable, so if you have a specific use in mind, this is one to consider carefully. A few redemption sweet spots include:
- Flights within Asia Pacific under 1,500 miles: 7,500 miles
- Europe – Middle East, Business Class: 45,000 miles
- Hainan Airlines has recently returned to the Alaska Mileage Plan
Stopovers can also be added for free. Alaska has a pretty extensive partner network. In addition to oneworld airlines, you can also redeem miles on Hainan Airlines, STARLUX Airlines and Korean Air, among others.
