A less talked-about hotel group: Wyndham has finally beefed up its elite benefits.
The details are available on the promotion page, although I could only find the Chinese version.
- Gold: priority check-in, welcome drink and 5% off dining
- Platinum: priority check-in, welcome drink, bottled water and 10% off dining
- Diamond: priority check-in, welcome drink, snack and bottled water, 15% off dining, plus a choice of breakfast or 500 points
Previously, even Wyndham Diamond members were largely left with rather vague benefits such as early check-in, late checkout and room upgrades, with very inconsistent execution and nothing guaranteed.
At least there’s finally some meaningful improvement. Most importantly, Diamond members now have a proper breakfast benefit.
The bad news is that only 93 hotels are currently participating, across China, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines and New Zealand.
Still, progress is progress. Accor Platinum and IHG’s top-tier status (Spire previously) were both rather underwhelming back in the day, and look where they are now. Perhaps Wyndham will eventually become a proper elite programme too.
