Just released: American Express is to open a new lounge at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport in China. Hat tip to my friend 何乐不为。
The lounge is located at the domestic T2 terminal, landside in the departure hall.
The preliminary opening date is April 26. From what I understand, in phase 1 only (China-issued) Centurion cardholders are eligible to enter. Platinum and foreign cardholders will be included in future phases.
This is the first American Express airport lounge in mainland China. Hongqiao is Shanghai’s other airport after Pudong, which is much closer to the city centre and right next to a high-speed railway station.
