Business class deal: Asia – UK under £700 one-way

Yesterday morning I woke up to see Qatar Airways’ error fare going viral on China’s social media, which was unfortunately pulled pretty quickly. Anyway, here are a few business class fares I spotted recently from China, Japan and Korea to the UK – not error fares, but very good deals nonetheless especially for one-way trips.

Hainan Airlines

  • Chongqing – Beijing – Manchester
  • Travel period: late November to March next year
  • One-way from ¥6,000+, round-trip from ¥12,000+
  • Stopover allowed in Beijing

There’s plenty of one-way availability, though round-trips are harder to find. The stopover option is great: for example, you could fly from Chongqing to Beijing, spend a few days there, and then continue to the UK.

Hainan is generally regarded as one of the best Chinese airlines, with pretty solid business class product. The fare should credit 125% to Alaska’s program.

China Southern Airlines

  • Departure: Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul
  • Destination: London
  • Transit: Beijing or Guangzhou
  • Travel period: December to March next year
  • One-way from ¥6,000+

Demand between Japan and Europe is high and cheap fares are rare, so this is a great deal. However, the long layover in Beijing can be painful.

Tokyo:

Osaka:

The schedule from Seoul is much more reasonable:

The only real downside is that stopovers aren’t allowed; adding one in Tokyo or Seoul would immediately increase the price by about ¥2,000.

Despite of its exist from Skyteam, China Southern still has a handful of partners to which you can credit the flight at 100%, including British Airways, American Airlines and Flying Blue.
