Free night voucher and more with Club Marriott Japan

We covered the Club Marriott program a couple of times in the past, which is Marriott’s dining membership scheme in the Asia-Pacific region. It’s similar to Accor Plus, but structured more loosely and only limited hotels take part. Each country has different enrolment channels and offers some exclusive perks that can only be enjoyed locally.

Thanks to reader @MurrayF for pointing out something interesting about their Japanese program. It actually comes in three different packages, with the highlight being Premium Explorer. The membership bundle includes:

  • One complimentary room night with breakfast
  • Two room upgrade vouchers
  • Dining vouchers worth JPY 30,000
  • One 40%-off dining voucher
  • A bottle of wine and celebration cake

The price is JPY 75,000 (around £375). All of the above benefits can be redeemed at any Club Marriott hotel in Japan. On top of that, members also get Asia-Pacific wide perks such as 20% off room rates and 30% off dining.

There are 15 participating hotels in Japan, including The Westin Tokyo, Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay, The Westin Yokohama, W Osaka, JW Marriott Nara and The Chapter Kyoto, among others. The Westin Tokyo and W Osaka are usually the priciest, with recent nightly rates in the £400 – £500 region.

That means the free night alone can already cover the membership cost, even if you don’t use the other benefits. However, note that blackout dates may apply, and I’m uncertain about availability on weekends and holidays.
