The gloves are officially off: Hilton has launched a massive 120% bonus on purchased points!
Until 21 November, buying at least 5,000 Hilton Honors points in a single transaction will get you a 120% bonus. The annual purchase limit has also been increased to 240,000 points, excluding the bonus.
One important thing to note: the currency you’re charged in is determined by your account address, and the USD pricing is considerably cheaper than most other currencies. So if you actually want to buy points, you’ll need to change your account address to the US first.
With the bonus included, the USD price works out at just 0.456c / 0.344p per point.
The main problem is that Hilton points have become increasingly difficult to use well. Outside of top-end properties or particularly expensive dates, award redemptions often offer fairly poor value.
Otherwise, there wouldn’t be much reason for Hilton to slash the price and throw points around to attract buyers in the first place. And it’s not just this promotion — the recent 40% bonus on transfers from UK Amex Membership Rewards is another sign that Hilton points are, frankly, struggling to find buyers.
