Two of China’s national carriers, Air China and China Eastern have quietly released a large number of excellently-priced business class fares between China (and other parts of Asia) and Europe. Availability has been around for several days now, and there are deals in both directions, so let’s take a look.
Europe → Asia
For those of us based in Europe:
- Travel during July and August
- Operated by Air China or China Eastern
- Depart from Stockholm
- Available to cities across China and Asia via Beijing or Shanghai
- One-way, return and stopover itineraries are all permitted
- Return fares start from just over £800
Fares to China are good. Stockholm → Shanghai, 23–31 August
Flying to Hong Kong or other Asian destinations can be even cheaper, especially with China Eastern.
Stockholm → Hong Kong, 1–17 August
Stockholm → Seoul, 10–17 August
A stopover example by Air China to Singapore, at Beijing:
Asia → Europe
Travelling the other direction is also possible:
- Only with Air China
- Departing from China tends to be the cheapest
Shanghai → Stockholm, 20–30 August
Shenzhen → Stockholm, 24–31 July
If you’re looking for a cheap one-way Business Class ticket to London and don’t mind a bit of positioning, there’s another interesting option from Indonesia, but availability is limited to October only.
Jakarta → London, 27 October
Most of the Air China flights will be operated by A350 with a modern 1-2-1 layout. The ticketing is in R class which credits between 110% and 125% to most Star Alliance programs.
The China Eastern routes will more likely be Boeing 777 with an older 2-2-2 layout. Tickets come from the I / J inventory and credits up to 200% should you choose Delta Skymiles, or 125% – 130% otherwise.
