Preferred Hotels & Resorts is running a pretty decent summer promotion this year:
- Stay window: 5 May to 31 August
- Stay at least two nights and receive a $50 reward certificate
- Each hotel only qualifies once, with a maximum of five certificates total
- The certificate can be used at any hotel and is valid through the end of this year
Only new bookings made after registration qualify. Unlike most Preferred promotions, this one does not restrict eligible rate types, so it’s relatively easy to complete while also offering fairly solid value back.
The main downside is probably the limited footprint of Preferred properties, plus the fact that booking through Preferred channels can sometimes come at a premium.
If you don’t yet have Preferred membership, this pairs especially well with the Titanium fast track promotion for World Elite Mastercard holders.
- Request an activation code which will be sent to your email address
- Create a new Preferred Hotels account with the code
- After your first stay, you’ll be upgraded to Titanium and receive 25,000 points
Note that you need to enter a legit World Elite card number to proceed. There are quite a few World Elite Mastercards issued in the UK, for example Curve (537590) and Barclaycard Avios Plus (530128).
Stacking the two promotions together means that a new member completing a single two-night stay could receive:
- Titanium status
- 25,000 points
- A $50 voucher
We previously discussed Preferred’s Key Access redemption feature, and 25,000 points can be enough for up to 50 nights at ultra-cheap discounted properties. My own Preferred Titanium status, matched years ago, still hasn’t been downgraded despite only staying twice, and they even throw in 2,500 points every year to keep it alive.
