A new status match opportunity is here! The target audience for this one is probably quite small, so I’ll just keep it brief.
The program involved this time is Scandinavian Airlines (SAS):
- Only open to elite members of Finnair and airBaltic
- Verification must be completed via the Reclaim Protocol website
- Once verified, the matched status will be valid for the current membership year and the following one
- A challenge must be completed within six months, otherwise the status will be downgraded afterwards
The matching tiers are as follows (only Finnair Platinum & Platinum Lumo can match to Diamond).

The challenge itself isn’t too difficult: Silver / Gold / Diamond require 3 / 6 / 9 flights respectively, and the flights must be operated by SAS and eligible to earn miles.
The verification method this time is quite interesting. Reclaim Protocol appears to be a company that specialises in remote verification services. You have to log into the Finnair or airBaltic website through their portal, after which the system will automatically complete the verification. The process sounds rather efficient and effective.
SAS Silver corresponds to SkyTeam Elite, offering benefits such as preferred seat selection, priority check-in and boarding, and extra checked baggage. Gold corresponds to SkyTeam Elite Plus, which includes access to business class lounges across the SkyTeam alliance.
If I remember correctly, SAS also has a soft-landing policy. So if you manage to match to Diamond and complete the challenge, you could potentially secure up to three years of SkyTeam Elite Plus status.
Unfortunately, the eligible audience for this match is quite limited. Although airBaltic does have a status match offer as well, it only accepts members from SAS at the moment.
