The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, Fiji was closed for renovation during Covid and the reopening date was postponed once and again. It is now finally bookable in the Marriott system, and the redemption rate is incredibly good.
From October 7th until January, one room night costs from as low as 19,000 points whereas the cash rate is somewhere around 1200 FJD (~£400). In February it goes up to 40,000 points.
The peak season of Fiji is June to September and it may be rather wet after October which partly explains the very few points required. Nevertheless it’s still a very attractive price – what can you get for 19,000 points nowadays?
Beware that the hotel is very old (opened in 1975) so fingers crossed the extensive renovation work will do a substantial facelifting job.
I just checked the Marriott website and app and there doesn’t appear to be any cash or points availability for the next year.
Reservation’s closed. Marriott now says the hotel doesn’t have an opening date yet.
For people who were able to book, I wonder if their reservations will be honored. If the hotel won’t be open; then I hope they will get alternative accommodations.
