Limited time only: Oneworld Sapphire match from hotel status

Royal Jordanian had a very generous status match offer last year, where one could get their Gold (Oneworld Sapphire) status by matching airline and hotel statuses. The offer was slashed immediately however, and with hotel statuses you could only get the Silver card (Oneworld Ruby).

The offer has returned for a limited time – if you have the following hotel memberships, you could now pay $199 to match to Royal Jordanian Gold:

  • Hilton Diamond
  • Hyatt Globalist
  • IHG Diamond
  • Accor Platinum or higher
  • Marriott Platinum or higher

Note the fee is higher than usual ($49 for Silver and $149 for Gold) so obviously Royal Jordanian is trying to make some money in the new year. There’s also a residency requirement, and you need to live in Europe or the Middle East – see FAQ page for country list.

You pay when you apply and if approved the membership is valid for 12 months. You don’t need to provide proof of residency but they might ask for it in a follow-up email.

When registering a Royal Jordanian account, if your first or last name is shorter than 3 characters you need to do it on mobile and add extra spaces after your name(s).

Oneworld Sapphire comes with free seat selection, extra baggage allowance, fast track and lounge access when you fly British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, American Airlines, Qatar Airways etc. Whether it is worth $199 is up to you.

They have contradictory deadlines on their website, one says January 17 and the other January 22. It might get withdrawn sooner if demand is high though, so don’t wait if you are interested.
