Not a great way to start the new year, but I’ve got some bad news to share. To begin with, Marriott has finally fixed the 75n 40k free night voucher glitch, and has even changed the expiry of already issued vouchers.
To be fair they changed the terms more than a year ago, and the bug fix was really long overdue. For most of us, spending the voucher in a year shouldn’t be too much of a challenge.
Next up is Trip.com, which is known for the very generous up to €20 flight discount. The benefit was reduced from unlimited to three times per calendar year, then to three times in total, and is now fully terminated. Those who signed up before January 3rd can still use up their three-time quota.
It’s an attempt from Ctrip to open up the overseas market and we couldn’t see it last long anyway. Still, I find Trip’s pricing competitive for European flights and they have regular exclusive discount for flights, hotels and train tickets.
Last but not least, the Daily Getaways program has unexpectedly come to an end:
The program has been discontinued and per the program terms and conditions all sales are final as of 10/31/2024
Daily Getaways is an annual feast for frequently travellers to purchase cheap points, hotel vouchers and more. It was especially a bargain for buying Choice points as there are few ways to accrue them otherwise. There will be much less fun without Daily Getaways!
