A new Maldives option has emerged in the Marriott Family. Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives, a member of Design Hotels, is bookable on Marriott from October 2024.
Note that it is not a new hotel (opened in 2016), but just new to the Marriott Bonvoy program. It is actually good news, meaning that the hotel is likely to be on one of the better isles. In fact the Finolhu is renowned for having one of the longest beaches (2km) in Maldives.
From the end of May to August, an award night at the hotel costs only 34,000 Marriott points, or more than $600 if paying cash for the Advance Purchase rate.
If you manage to book five consecutive nights, you’ll only pay 136K Marriott points thanks to their fifth-night free benefit.
The bargain comes with catches however:
- You’ll be visiting Maldives in the rain season
- Complimentary breakfast is not a benefit at Design Hotels
- Seaplane costs ~$700 and half-board ~$100 per person
