Instant upgrade to Radisson VIP status (with workarounds)

17/08 Update:

If you access the promotion page now it will say the code is invalid, which is expected as the code was supposed to be one-time use. There are however two easy workarounds.

In Chrome, right-click on the page and choose Inspect. Find the element uqdPromoFormOverlay and hide or delete it. This will hide or delete the invitation code overlay and let you proceed to sign up.

Alternatively:

• Sign up – you can use my referral link which gives you 5,000 bonus points after first stay
• Use the upgrade link for existing users

This route however, gives you only one year of VIP status instead of two.

Radisson Rewards, a program I really liked in its early days, has become rather irrelevant nowadays unfortunately due to its gradual reforms. There’s now however an opportunity to upgrade to their top VIP tier.

It is an offer extended to SAS Eurobonus members but it seems that everyone can sign up. Simply create a new account using this special link and you should have the VIP status right away.

If you have an account already, click the purple block on the left and provide your details. I have had an account at the Premium tier, thanks to Amex Platinum, and was upgraded to VIP instantaneously.

For new members the VIP status is valid for two years. If you upgrade from an existing account it’s only one year.

VIP status comes with many benefits including:

• Room upgrade
• Early check-in and late check-out
• Free breakfast for two
• Lounge access

Which is quite good and on a par with say Hilton Diamond, Marriott Titanium and Hyatt Globalist. I don’t think many Radisson hotels have an executive lounge though.

The Radisson Group is owned by Jinjiang, a Chinese hospitality company and due to the complications behind they sold their business in the Americas to Choice a while back. They still however, own many properties in the rest of the world, most notably UK, Germany, Northern Europe, UAE, Saudi Arabia and India.
