We wrote about BA’s sale two weeks ago, where you could get a pretty solid deal in premium economy to New York and some Asia destinations, plus the possibility to upgrade to business with Avios. What I wasn’t aware is, you can reduce the fare even further by departing from Jersey.
It’s actually not a total surprise, given that Jersey is using the same pricing rule but you don’t have to pay UK’s Air Passenger Duty. The catch of course, is you need to go to Jersey first. You can however return to London, and for New York you can fly on AA if you don’t particularly like BA.
Jersey – London – New York – London £462
The JFK – LHR leg above is Finnair coded and operated by American Airlines.
Jersey – London – Shanghai – London £513
Jersey – London – Kuala Lumpur – London £561
As we pointed out last time, you can use Avios to upgrade to Club World if there’s availability. However it’s not possible to use BA’s Book & Upgrade feature online for a multi-city itinerary, but here’s my estimate on what you’ll roughly pay in total:
- New York – £1,100 + 40,000 / 48,000 Avios
- Shanghai – £660 + 60,000 / 72,000 Avios
- Kuala Lumpur – £1,000 + 70,000 / 84,000 Avios
Similar prices could be available from Guernsey and Inverness.
