Unlimited half-price Kimpton stays with InterContinental Ambassador

Right now InterContinental Ambassador is running a 20K bonus points promotion for those who join or renew their membership. The program comes with substantial perks when you stay with certain IHG brands, and there’s even another hidden gem that not many people are aware of.

In each membership year you are granted one weekend night certificate (BOGOF voucher), which waives the second-night’s charge when you book a two-night weekend stay at InterContinental hotels. In 2020 when the pandemic hit, IHG extended the certificate’s scope to include Kimpton and Regent hotels as well, as a good-will gesture to make them easier to use.

Even better, the certificate is valid on any day, not only the weekend, when redeemed at Kimpton or Regent hotels. It is a temporary policy though and we don’t know if it will be extended beyond 2022.

One quirk is, the BOGOF voucher doesn’t get truly redeemed at Kimpton hotels. I’ve used my voucher at three different Kimpton hotels in the last two years and it never disappeared from my account after the stays.

I’ve seen many reports from other people too, so it’s unlikely to be a singularity. With the BOGOF voucher, in theory you can get unlimited 50%-off discount when staying at Kimpton hotels! You can check and book with the voucher using this link (BOGOF voucher not required).

Just like the Diamond-extension trick, it is probably a (intentional?) bug in IHG’s system, so don’t be surprised if it’s gone one day. However it’s something worth keeping in mind when you are looking to redeem your certificate.
