Two Cathay Pacific-related updates today. First, the ASMALLWORLD promotion we mentioned previously has been updated with a new offer:
- Valid until 3 November
- Prestige membership at 32% off
- 250,000 Cathay miles included
The discounted membership costs $3,940. Purely from the perspective of buying miles, this works out to 0.1576c / 0.118p per mile. It’s not exactly a bargain, but if you need a large number of Cathay miles in the short term, it could be worth considering.
The Prestige membership also comes with elite status from Hilton, Jumeirah and GHA, among other benefits. We covered these in detail last time, so I won’t repeat them here.
The second update is a new promotion on the Cathay website:
- Promotion period: 23 October to 31 December
- You need to earn Cathay miles through participating financial partners in mainland China
- Earn miles through any qualifying transaction and receive 500 bonus miles
- Earn a total of 10,000 miles and receive another 2,000 bonus miles
The maximum bonus is therefore 2,500 miles. The promotion seems to be targeted and your account address may need to be in mainland China.
If you are eligible, the main partner of interest is Ping-An E-wallet. Simply transferring 6,000 points earns 100 regular Cathay miles plus 500 bonus miles, for a total of 600 miles..
If you’ve participated in one of Ping An’s previous transfer promotions, you probably have some leftover points sitting in your account. This could be a good opportunity to finally put them to use.
