Marriott x Japan Airlines partnership, get instant oneworld status

In a surprising move, Marriott Bonvoy has just announced partnership with Japan Airlines.

I might add more detail later, but most importantly, Marriott members can now get complimentary FLY ON points, and thus Japan Airlines / oneworld status.

• Base: 2,000 points
• Silver: 5,000 points
• Gold: 10,000 points
• Platinum: 20,000 points
• Titanium: 30,000 points
• Ambassador: 40,000 points

Titanium and Ambassador members get complimentary Crystal status (Ruby) right-away, which requires 30,000 FLY ON points. For Sapphire, you need 50,000 points which doesn’t seem that far away.

oneworld Ruby status gives you free (or discounted) seat selection and priority check-in when flying with British Airways, American Airlines, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific and more.
