Mastercard has had many status upgrade offers with hotel groups, and they are now back with another quirky promo, this time partnering with SLH (Small Luxury Hotels):
- World Elite cardholders can fast-track to Club 03 status
- World cardholders can fast-track to Club 02 status
You need to log into Mastercard’s dedicated redemption portal, have an eligible Mastercard registered, and then you’ll see the offer.
The page will generate a one-time activation link. Open it, register or log in to activate, then log out and back in – and your upgraded status should appear!
The link has a unique token attached and is valid only once. SLH has learned the lesson and improved their tech 😛
They say the status lasts one year, but mine only shows until next May, possibly because it’s tied to my existing account’s anniversary. I’m not sure whether card eligibility depends on the issuing country, but generally it may require an APAC-issued card. My China-issued card works; another account linked to a UK Curve card doesn’t show the offer.
Club 03 is SLH’s top tier. Normally it requires 13 nights to earn. Main benefits include:
- Early check-in / late check-out
- Room upgrade
- Free breakfast
- Free Wi-Fi
- Complimentary bottled water
- Invitations to exclusive events
- Monthly free night voucher giveaways
Another benefit is a $300 free night voucher. I clicked in with hopeful excitement, and of course it wasn’t there. I didn’t think they’d give it to people who get the status for free!
The benefits are decent: not amazing, but not bad either. The catch is that you must book through SLH channels to use them, and SLH direct pricing tends to be higher than OTAs or even the hotels’ own sites.
