You might not have heard of WorldHotels – it is a small alliance of boutique hotels that is in a way similar to, but much less relevant than say SLH or Mr & Mrs Smith. It was acquired by the Best Western Group in 2019.
Their footprint isn’t big and honestly I’m not impressed by their portfolio, as in I’ve barely heard of any of their hotels. They used to work with the White Swan Hotel in Guangzhou, a historic landmark of the city, but that partnership appears to have ceased. They do still run cashback offers with American Express in the UK frequently, which I gladly use to dine at the Min Jiang restaurant at Royal Garden Hotel.
As it is now part from Best Western, they share the same membership system, where there are five levels and the top two are Diamond and Diamond Select. One recent interesting enhancement is, as our reader @Luca noticed, the two top levels now have complimentary breakfast and lounge access included.
In Best Western’s own program, there’s no real benefit whatever elite level you are, so it’s some substantial improvement we are seeing here. Whether the individual hotel knows of such benefit, or even the WorldHotels program, is a different story…
Diamond / Diamond Select status requires only 15 / 25 nights stayed in a year respectively. I vaguely remember that Best Western and WorldHotels share the same backend system so you might be able to log in using your Best Western account and use its status already.
If not, they run a status match promotion, so getting an upgrade should be fairly easy.
