Unlike other hotel groups GHA doesn’t tend to sell their reward currency D$ regularly, which makes sense given D$ is used like cash, similar to Accor’s points.
They have however started a promotion just now. Until August 31st, GHA members get a discount when purchasing D$ based on their status:
- Silver – 10%
- Gold – 12%
- Platinum – 14%
- Titanium – 15%
D$ can be redeemed against your hotel bill when you pay at checkout. Therefore it can stack with other rate discounts as long as it’s not a prepaid rate. The D$ you purchase in this promotion is valid for two years, which is reasonable.
Two notes:
- Anecdotal reports suggest people earn full points for stays even when having redeemed some D$, at least in some cases
- In theory you must be a staying guest to redeem D$, however some hotels might be more lenient. One reader has had success at many London restaurants, although some convincing is usually needed
Haven’t really seen this one before. Is this currency $1 = 1 unit of D$, good as cash? You mentioned Accor, but as we know, that is 2000 points per 40 EUR and not a direct 1:1 peg.
Yes, 1 D$ = 1 USD
