Two related reminders today, both ending at the end of this month, so there isn’t much time left!
First up is the Rove hotel booking platform, where several promotions can be stacked:
- Sign up through my referral link and get 500 miles instantly
- Spend at least $500 on your first booking and use promo code FFFM to get an additional 5,000 miles
- Get a 50% bonus when transferring points to Japan Airlines
- Get a 40% bonus when transferring points to Air France-KLM’s Flying Blue
Two things I didn’t know last time:
- There is a Miles Boost option before checkout, which lets you pay extra to purchase additional miles
- Even flexible bookings can be converted into non-refundable rates, in which case the miles will also be credited immediately.
The main barrier is the need for a US phone number to receive SMS verification. You can bypass it by using certain eSIM providers, for example Tello and Roamless, as recommended by our reader.
And as it happens, Japan Airlines is currently running a 30% off award ticket promotion: all Paris/Helsinki–Japan award seats have already sold out, with only a few seats available in the opposite direction. Frankfurt still has relatively good availability, mainly because the route is operated with the old cabin.
If you’re interested, combining this with Rove can be a relatively cheap way to pick up the required miles (as low as 0.9p per mile), and you can even throw in a domestic Japan flight along the way.
