Yesterday there were rumours floating around online that IHG’s 15% off points redemption promotion was coming back, and it turns out they were right!

The screenshot above shows the offer for China’s CITIC co-branded cardholders, but as usual, co-branded cards around the world — including the US Chase cards and UK Revolut card — should qualify as well.
Two things to note. First, based on previous experience, after the initial “early access” period for co-branded cardholders, the promotion may eventually be opened up to Platinum, Diamond and potentially all members.
Second, you’ll need to wait until 16 September locally at each hotel to see the discount. It’s already live in Asia and the Middle East, but the UK and US haven’t unlocked it yet.
If you’ve already booked, it’s worth checking whether cancelling and rebooking could save you some money.
Until October 5th, you’ll also get 100% bonus when buying at least X IHG points in one transaction (X might be customised and it’s 5,000 for me). Note that you’ll need to buy at least 26,000 points to get the cheapest unit price, which is 0.5c / 0.37p per point.
IHG has timed the two promotions very well!
