It’s the start of the year, and British Airways’ annual attempt to tempt you into buying points has arrived right on cue: until 6 February, you can boost all the Avios you earned over the whole of last year, with an option of up to five times the amount!
This Balance Booster is a unique feature of British Airways. It allows you to buy Avios at a relatively low price, with the cap determined by how many Avios you’ve earned in the past 30 days (usually up to three times that amount). The pricing is very attractive: as long as your total boosted amount in a calendar year doesn’t exceed 300,000 Avios, the cost is just 0.92p per Avios. Beyond that threshold, the price rises sharply.
For this limited-time promotion, the price remains the same, but the cap is much higher than usual. Many people will likely be able to max out the full 300,000 Avios. In short, if you have a need for Avios, it’s worth considering, and you can freely mix and match the quantity you want to buy.
