Nectar is a UK-based shopping loyalty program where customers can earn points on grocery shopping, banking and travel and more. Members can link their Nectar and British Airways accounts and transfer points in either direction.
A new partnership with Marriott Bonvoy has just launched. To start, you’ll earn 500 Nectar points (worth £2.5) for simply linking the accounts, a no-brainer freebie.
You will also earn 500 Nectar points for each paid stay with Marriott Bonvoy, up to three times per calendar year. This is in additional to the Marriott points you’d normally earn.
Lastly, bi-directional point transfer is also available:
- 1,000 Nectar points = 500 Marriott points
- 1,000 Marriott points = 500 Nectar points
1,000 Nectar points has a near-fixed value of £5, and Marriott points are generally valued similarly. Unlike the BA deal, you’ll most likely lose out on value whichever direction you convert. I wouldn’t recommend transferring unless there’s a promotional bonus in play.
If I remember correctly, you can only create a Nectar account if you are in the UK.
