Many, if not all of the hotel groups have timeshare programs where you pay a membership fee in exchange for regular holiday rentals in a collection of resorts. To recruit new customers they also make special deals allowing you to stay at a resort at a very low price, but in return you must attend a sale’s session – in Chinese we call them “lecture rooms” as you get a cheap hotel room for listening to a lecture.
Marriott Vacation Club is running such a promotion:
- Three properties in Spain and France are participating
- You pay £299 or €349 for three nights
- Open to couples aged between 30 and 70, with a household income of at least £65,000 or €75,000
- Must attend a 90-minute sale’s session during the stay
The three hotels are:
- Marriott’s Playa Andaluza: free car rental + €85 credit or 15,000 points
- Hacienda Son Antem Golf Resort, Autograph Collection: free car rental, breakfast and 5,000 points
- Marriott’s Village d’Ile-de-France: €100 credit and 15,000 points
Book by April 11 and there’s a surcharge for stays after June.
If I remember correctly the two Spanish properties are regular participants in such promotions, while the French one seems to be making its debut. Interestingly, Marriott’s Village d’Ile-de-France has a unique selling point: it’s just a 10-minute drive from Disneyland Paris and offers a shuttle service, making it an ideal accommodation for visiting the entertainment park.
The rate is not dirt cheap, and the actual savings depend on the specific dates. For example, next month we’ll see the peak school holiday, and Marriott’s Village d’Ile-de-France is selling at over €300 per night with many dates fully booked already.
Keep in mind that Marriott Bonvoy benefits are almost non-existent at Marriott Vacation Club hotels, so don’t count on room upgrades, breakfast, or late check-out. However, Hacienda Son Antem Golf Resort is not marked as Vacation Club in the system, so you may have a better luck – breakfast is complimentary for all hotel guests here anyway.
