Royal Air Maroc, member of the Oneworld Alliance, has an interesting subscription service: Status Booster. You purchase a package which allows you to double or triple the status miles earned in the next 90 days, on all flights marketed by Royal Air Maroc.
You basically pay to earn status with them faster. There’s also a limited-offer at the moment (deadline unknown):
- 2X status miles: €99 (reduced from €199)
- 3X status miles: €198 (reduced from €298)
Royal Air Maroc has three elite tiers:
- Silver / Oneworld Ruby, 20,000 status miles
- Gold / Oneworld Sapphire, 35,000 status miles
- Platinum / Oneworld Emerald, 75,000 status miles
From what I understand their membership is calendar-year based, so if you qualify now it will be valid through the end of 2026. Even better, according to this thread in Flyertalk a generous soft landing policy is in place!
This is where Royal Air Maroc flies according to Flight Connections. Their hub is Casablanca with destinations including Europe, Africa, Middle East, Americas (east coast mainly) and Asia (Beijing).
They have a rather flat earning structure: you get 100% status miles in Economy (even the cheapest bucket) and 200% in Business. Here are some illustrative examples of flight distance from Casablanca, according to their miles calculator:
- Madrid 539
- London 1313
- New York 3609
- Beijing 6239
For Casablanca – Beijing, with 3x booster you’ll earn enough miles for Gold after just one return trip (37,434 miles), and be just a couple of hundred short of Platinum if you do two.
If you can depart from Beijing, Royal Air Maroc is running an excellent sale to some European destinations. For instance, you pay ~£300 for a return to Barcelona in economy, or ~£2,000 in business.
Depending on the class of travel you’ll get either Oneworld Sapphire or Emerald after a single trip.
As British Airways is transitioning into a (pathetic) revenue-based system many asylum seekers are wondering where to move instead, and Royal Air Maroc might be one of the options. Note that to maintain your status, the requirement is slightly lower but a certain proportion of your miles / segments must be earned through Royal Air Maroc flights.
I can nowhere find details/confirmation for the validity of the status being 2 years. So basically you have the status the year you earn, but you qualify for next year. Don’t years if you do it beginning of the year. But I can not find any proof or indication for that with RAM! Do you have proof for that or experience with the system?
If I do I would have been more certain in the post!
Hi! Could I ask if under the booster, if I fly one way J from PEK-MAD/ BCN in J class, does it mean that I could reach Emerald in once? Or do I have to do return please?
Thanks!
Need to be return
