Courtesy of TAP Portugal, I’m now Star Alliance Gold until April next year \ud83d\ude09. My first relevant experience should have been Ankara, when I flew Turkish Airlines to Istanbul. However it’s only until I passed security did I find out that TK has a separate VIP terminal at Ankara airport! Well, stupid me…<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

So my debut ends up in Heathrow instead, as I’m flying Lufthansa to Munich. Despite their partnership with American Express<\/a>, Platinum card holders can only access the Lufthansa lounge at Frankfurt and Munich, so my *Gold status is indeed useful this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airline lounges at T2 are numbered, and you are looking for A1<\/strong> here. It doesn’t take long to walk to the lounge after security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lounge is very quiet at 7am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The little sofas, dark and yellow, are a typical find in Lufthansa lounges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buffet is replaced by staff service. You go to the buffet area, tell the staff what you want and they’ll put everything in a plate for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Options are croissants, fruit box and other snacks. There’s no hot food offered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a *Gold member, I should have access to the Senator lounge inside, which is supposed to be superior. Unfortunately it’s closed at the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a shame to see the reduced service and food options at airport lounges, although understandable. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the Plaza Premium lounge<\/a> is already offering hot food now, so you may want to visit it instead if you have access.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
