My relaxing long weekend in Oslo is coming to an end, and there’s just one last stop: the SAS Lounge! I visited the SAS Gold Lounge in Copenhagen back in 2024<\/a>, when SAS was still part of Star Alliance. The facilities were pretty impressive, so let’s see how the Oslo lounge compares.<\/p>\n\n\n

Oslo Airport has two SAS lounges: one for domestic departures and another for international departures. Note that the latter is behind a security checkpoint, and \u201cinternational departures\u201d doesn’t mean non-Schengen flights only. You’ll still need to clear passport control separately for non-Schengen destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The queue for passport control was also pretty long. Thanks to the wonderful new EES, I ended up waiting for almost half an hour.<\/p>\n\n\n

Opposite the SAS Lounge is OSL Lounge, the only other option besides SAS’s own lounges. It accepts DragonPass, LoungeKey and locally issued<\/strong> American Express Platinum cards, but not Priority Pass. I’d seen fairly mediocre reviews online, so I couldn’t really be bothered to check it out. Straight to SAS it was.<\/p>\n\n\n

Entry is via an automatic gate that scans your QR code. Inside, several large rooms connect to form one spacious lounge. According to the floor plan, there are separate areas for dining, working, socialising and relaxing.<\/p>\n\n\n

Let’s start with the work area. There are large round tables and long communal tables with power sockets, as well as individual armchairs and small sofas.<\/p>\n\n\n

If you need some peace and quiet, you can find a little private room.<\/p>\n\n\n

There’s also a corner with natural light and a few reclining loungers, although there aren’t many of them.<\/p>\n\n\n

Next up is the social area.<\/p>\n\n\n

There’s even a kids’ play area.<\/p>\n\n\n

There are actually several food and drink stations throughout the lounge. The one near the entrance is rather quiet, with only a basic selection of drinks and snacks.<\/p>\n\n\n

Walk further inside, though, and you’ll find a much better selection.<\/p>\n\n\n

As for hot food, the selection is rather limited. The only hot dishes available at first were Thai red curry soup and asparagus soup. Then, out of nowhere, a plate of chicken wings appeared. Naturally, I wasted no time grabbing some!<\/p>\n\n\n

There was also a huge tub of energy drinks, presumably as part of some sort of sponsorship. Next to it, you can ask a member of staff to mix you a cocktail.<\/p>\n\n\n

Compared with Copenhagen, the SAS Lounge in Oslo is a considerable step down. It meets the basic requirements, but that’s about it. Still, I suspect it’s better than the OSL Lounge next door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One final bonus from this trip: it was my first time experiencing Starlink Wi-Fi, on the SAS flight. And wow, it was good!<\/p>\n\n\n

All you need to do is sign up for SAS EuroBonus to use it for free. If I remember correctly, this is one of Starlink’s requirements for airlines (no fee).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The connection was incredibly fast, with no trouble streaming videos. Best of all, it worked continuously from the moment I boarded until I stepped off the aircraft \u2014 a massive improvement over traditional in-flight Wi-Fi. Now let’s hope this becomes the standard worldwide!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
