I’ve already shared my experience at Cathay Pacific’s The Pier First Class Lounge<\/a>, so today it’s time to cover the rest of my time at Hong Kong Airport, including a hidden “lounge” that’s well worth a visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in Taipei, EVA Air and British Airways couldn’t interline my luggage, so it was only checked through to Hong Kong. Fortunately I had a long layover, and even after collecting and rechecking my bags I still had more than three hours before departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s a quick look at the lounge map at Hong Kong Airport (credit: @Mr Miles).<\/p>\n\n\n

One place I specifically wanted to visit was Intervals Bar, after seeing it recommended by fellow blogger @\u4f55\u4e50\u4e0d\u4e3a<\/a>. The bar takes its name from the nearby Sky Bridge\u2014the elevated walkway connecting the main terminal and the satellite concourse, which also happens to be the highest point accessible to passengers at Hong Kong Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n

If you have some time before your flight, the Sky Bridge is definitely worth a stroll. It’s a great place to watch aircraft movements and enjoy the view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you’re in the departures hall, head towards Gates 13\u201322. Turn where the signs indicate, then take either the lift or escalator upstairs. When you reach the top, immediately turn right and double back – you’ll find the entrance to Intervals Bar.<\/p>\n\n\n

I call it a “hidden lounge” because it’s operated by Plaza Premium Group, so the Smart Traveller membership applies here. It also accepts Priority Pass and DragonPass, but only the ones that accept non-lounge experiences. Of course, since it’s still a bar, you can simply pay for food or drinks if you don’t have access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside you’ll find a stylish central bar.<\/p>\n\n\n

There’s also a popular window seat tucked away in the corner.<\/p>\n\n\n

Unfortunately, since I visited at night, there wasn’t much of a view to photograph.<\/p>\n\n\n

You can choose one main item and one drink. The pasta actually looked fairly decent, but with dinner waiting for me at The Pier First Class Lounge, I only ordered a couple of snacks instead. I took one bite of each\u2026 and let’s just say they weren’t particularly memorable.<\/p>\n\n\n

After finishing my cocktail, I headed straight for The Pier. Once I’d eaten there, it was time to board my British Airways flight back to London and get some sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n

I have to say, British Airways’ new Club Suite is incredibly comfortable. I slept almost immediately after take-off and didn’t wake up until around seven hours later. Despite the flight lasting a hefty 14 hours, I arrived feeling surprisingly refreshed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re passing through Hong Kong Airport with a bit of spare time, I definitely recommend visiting the Sky Bridge for the views alone. And if you have the right Priority Pass or DragonPass membership, Intervals Bar makes a pleasant stop for a drink before your flight. Just don’t set your expectations too high when it comes to the food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
