However, traditional direct matching through airlines, while becoming rarer, hasn&#8217;t vanished entirely. Today, let\u2019s look at Turkish Airlines (TK), a frequent topic of reader inquiries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While there is no formal page on their website, Turkish Airlines\u2019 matching program is well-regulated and long-standing; information is even regularly distributed to corporate partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You can apply if you hold one of the following statuses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Oneworld <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Emerald<\/mark><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SkyTeam <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Elite Plus<\/mark><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emirates Gold or Platinum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Etihad  Gold or Platinum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>El Al Platinum or Top Platinum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Anecdotal reports suggest that it might even be possible to match from other Star Alliance Gold card. To keep it, you must meet these milestones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To extend to 1 year: Complete one paid international flight on Turkish Airlines within the first four months.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To extend to 2 years: Earn 15,000 status miles on Turkish Airlines flights within the first year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Long-term retention: TK operates on a two-year cycle. To renew Gold, non-Turkish residents need 37,500 status miles within those two years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The best strategy: if you earn 15,000 miles in Year 1 to pass the challenge, you only need another 22,500 miles (which can come from Star Alliance partners) before the end of Year 2 to renew for another two years. The minimum accumulation rate for TK international Business Class is 160%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Example: A round trip between Istanbul and Shanghai earns 4,994 x 2 x 1.6 = 15,980 status miles, which is the two-year status sorted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Otherwise, two Europe &#8211; Istanbul &#8211; Asia round trips would essentially net you the full four years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Benefits<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Star Alliance Gold is highly practical. Beyond Turkish Airlines, it grants you priority check-in &amp; boarding, free seat selection, extra baggage allowance and lounge access on the Lufthansa Group, United, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, EVA Air and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given that matching is free and the challenge requirements are relatively low, it offers excellent value.
