Americas and some Asian countries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Silver: $99<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gold \/ Platinum: $299<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Discounted price for other countries <strong>if matching using an airline card<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Silver: $80<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gold \/ Platinum: $175<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that the From what I know applications that are denied are generally refundable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kenya Airways status tiers are as follows: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Silver corresponds to <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">SkyTeam Elite<\/mark><\/strong> and comes with benefits like extra baggage allowance, priority check-in, and boarding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gold and Platinum are both <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">SkyTeam Elite Plus<\/mark><\/strong>, which adds airport lounge access and fast-track security<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep in mind that SkyTeam lounge access usually only applies to international flights, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/2025\/03\/13\/xiamen-air-joins-skyteams-lounge-access-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">although there are (growing) exceptions now<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is little practical difference between Gold and Platinum unless you fly Kenya Airways frequently. However, according to their <a href=\"https:\/\/asante.kenya-airways.com\/pages\/terms-and-conditions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">terms and conditions<\/a> a <strong>soft landing<\/strong> policy is in place &#8211; if you match to Platinum, you&#8217;re guaranteed two years of SkyTeam Elite Plus!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eligibility list is huge. Most of the mainstream international airlines are included, such as British Airways, Lufthansa, United, Cathay Pacific, Turkish Airlines and many more. It&#8217;s very strange to see names such as China Eastern which is Kenya Airways&#8217; partner in Skyteam. Matching to Gold usual requires the mid-tier status like BA Silver and Lufthansa Senator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s even easier to qualify with hotel status. The Gold membership from Marriott, IHG, Hilton and Accor is sufficient for Gold match (you can&#8217;t match to Platinum), and there are names like Best Western, Preferred Hotels and Radisson too.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/08\/kenya-airways-status-match-hotel.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\" noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"503\" src=\"http:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/08\/kenya-airways-status-match-hotel.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24616\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/08\/kenya-airways-status-match-hotel.png 800w, https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/08\/kenya-airways-status-match-hotel-300x189.png 300w, https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/08\/kenya-airways-status-match-hotel-768x483.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve never seen this before but they even accept credit card programs: Amex Platinum, Mastercard World (Elite) and Visa Platinum are good enough for Silver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since this is a paid match, whether or not it\u2019s worth it depends on your travel pattern and plans. $175 for SkyTeam Elite Plus status is a solid value if you\u2019ll make use of lounge access and other perks, whereas $299 is less compelling. Even $99 for Silver can pay off quickly if you check bags just a couple of times.
