Last October we wrote about the new partnership between SAS and Scandic<\/a>, where they promised reciprocal benefits such as point conversion and status match for members from both programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Status match was expected to launch in April but from the look of it it’s going to be delayed. However, someone on Flyertalk<\/a> spotted more information which was put on SAS’s new website by accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The information has now been taken down, but Web Archive has a copy of the relevant javascript code<\/a> revealing how the match will be done:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s exceptionally generous: you only need to spend \u20ac1,250 (excluding tax) at Scandic to qualify for L5 status, which doesn’t even come with free breakfast. And that matches to SAS Gold? Honestly I can’t imagine SAS being happy about an influx of “cheap” Gold members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we’ve covered last time, Scandic has an unpublicised status match program in which I participated. My Hilton, IHG, Marriott and Radisson cards got me an upgrade to L4 Dear Friend, and it seems that they don’t match beyond that. Their customer service stated a policy of only matching Nordic chains, although we don’t know what that means – we have unsuccessful reports from people who used Hilton, IHG or Radisson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L4 will match to SAS Silver, or in other words Skyteam Elite<\/mark>. You will be entitled to an extra check-in baggage, priority check-in and boarding when flying Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic and China Eastern etc. Many of these airlines also offer free advance seat selection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
