{"id":22699,"date":"2025-03-04T19:53:40","date_gmt":"2025-03-04T19:53:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/?p=22699"},"modified":"2025-03-04T19:53:41","modified_gmt":"2025-03-04T19:53:41","slug":"my-review-of-eurostar-plus-formerly-standard-premier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/2025\/03\/04\/my-review-of-eurostar-plus-formerly-standard-premier\/","title":{"rendered":"My review of Eurostar Plus (formerly Standard Premier)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Eurostar had an excellent promotion in December, giving me an excuse for a weekend getaway to Brussels (which, to be frank, doesn&#8217;t have much to offer) and the chance to try out Eurostar&#8217;s Plus class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eurostar has three cabin classes, originally called Standard, Standard Premier and Business Premier which I believe inspired the naming of China&#8217;s high-speed trains. A while ago they simplified the system and the three classes are now called Standard, Plus and Premier. My return ticket in Plus set me back \u00a3127.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/eurostar-trains.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/eurostar-trains.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22629\" style=\"width:400px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/eurostar-trains.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/eurostar-trains-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/eurostar-trains-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/eurostar-trains-520x292.jpg 520w, https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/eurostar-trains-720x404.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s a breakdown of their differences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Seating style &#8211; in Standard, it\u2019s a 2+2 layout, but in Plus and Premier, you get a 1+2 setup, which means more space (there&#8217;s no difference between Plus and Premier)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Catering &#8211; one simple cold meal is provided in Plus, which is upgraded to a full gourmet experience in Premier<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ground service: Premier customers have access to a fast track security lane and the Premier lounge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.verylvke.com\/en\/2022\/12\/31\/onboard-chinas-high-speed-train-in-first-class\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">I took China&#8217;s high-speed train<\/a> a couple of times last year and couldn&#8217;t help comparing it to Eurostar. From what I understand there&#8217;s no priority boarding even for Premier passengers, whereas in China a concierge will escort you from the the lounge to the train.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When boarding the Premier and Plus carriages, a member of staff will greet you and inspect your ticket. Some seats are face-to-face with a table in between, whereas others are like the ones you get on a plane, with one seat behind another. I&#8217;m not a salad fan, so I don&#8217;t have much to say about that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s Wi-Fi onboard but it uses the cellular network, so it&#8217;s unreliable and completely gone when we enter the tunnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given that Eurostar journeys are only between two and three hours long, travelling in Standard is totally fine although I do find Plus is lot quieter and you can&#8217;t ignore the extra space and comfort.
