My Dubai holiday is over and I’m heading home on Virgin Atlantic<\/a>. The last time I was here I was flying Emirates’ (amazing) First Class Suite and their First Class Lounge at T3<\/a> was impressively large. Most other airlines are at T1 which is what I’m visiting today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skyteam has a branded lounge at T1 and Virgin Atlantic naturally uses it. It doesn’t look very appealing though and thus I was going to test the Ahlan First Lounge instead, which participates in the Dragonpass program (not Priority Pass).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan fell through – I used my Dragonpass for a back massage beforehand and then, at the Ahlan lounge it wouldn’t swipe again and they told me a two-hour gap was required. Well, a lot of people were gaming the Dragonpass system in the past and I guess that’s why there is such a rule in place now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s no other Priority Pass or Dragonpass option that stands out so I will just settle with the Skyteam lounge. All T1 lounges are by this one corridor and quick to find. The Skyteam lounge is open to Priority Pass and Dragonpass holders so easily accessible to many passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n

I’ve been to two Skyteam lounges in the past: Beijing Capital Airport and London Heathrow, and all three of them have similar design styles.<\/p>\n\n\n

The curvy wooden architect, as well as the green wall, are signature Skyteam elements that caught my eyes immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n

Three private-ish rooms: kids club, TV room and business room with a printer.<\/p>\n\n\n

  • Scrambled egg with turkey bacon<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Veal sausage<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    … which is a pretty decent spread for breakfast. Although by no means comparable to the Emirates Lounge and not quite up to Dubai’s luxury standard, the Skyteam lounge is an average but functional airport lounge that serves the purpose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
