You&#8217;ll earn 180 tier points for the round trip but not many Avios given they&#8217;ve gone revenue-based. If you don&#8217;t need the tier points it might be better to credit to BA&#8217;s partners instead, including say Qatar Airways which is also an Avios ally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also benefit from this deal if flying business class (Club World), using BA&#8217;s <em>Book and Upgrade with Avios<\/em> feature. You basically purchase the premium economy ticket and upgrade it to business at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The all-in price for a Club World return ticket will look something like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>New York &#8211; \u00a31244 + 40,000 \/ 48,000 Avios<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Doha &#8211; \u00a3780 + 40,000 \/ 48,000 Avios<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Beijing &#8211; \u00a3887 + 50,000 \/ 60,000 Avios<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shanghai &#8211; \u00a3790 + 60,000 \/ 72,000 Avios<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A quirkiness is that <strong>upgrading is cheaper at peak season than off-peak<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For New York there&#8217;s unfortunately a ridiculous upgrade supplement, but it&#8217;s still cheaper than an outright Club World redemption.
